December 12, 2024
These garlicky pizza sticks conceal yummy melted mozzarella—perfect for dipping! As a shortcut, you can use store-bought frozen pizza dough, defrosted according to package directions—you’ll need one 20-oz. package.
Yield: 16 pizza sticks
Ingredients:
1½ teaspoons dry yeast
1 tablespoon honey
¾ cup warm water
2 cups high-gluten flour
3½ tablespoons oil, divided
½ teaspoon salt
8 mozzarella sticks
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
2 frozen cubes garlic
Pizza sauce for dipping
Directions:
To prepare dough, place yeast, honey, and water in a mixing bowl.
Cover and proof for 10 minutes.
Add flour, 1½ tablespoons flour, and salt.
Mix until a smooth dough forms; knead well.
Let dough rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll dough into a 14”–16” rectangle.
Cut into sixteen squares.
Cut mozzarella sticks in half lengthwise.
Place one mozzarella stick half in center of each square; fold and pinch dough to enclose and form a stick.
Seal well to prevent cheese from leaking.
Arrange sticks on prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15–18 minutes, until lightly browned.
Meanwhile, prepare topping by mixing remaining 2 tablespoons oil with kosher salt, parsley, and garlic.
When sticks are fully baked, brush with topping.
Serve warm with pizza sauce for dipping.
